Custom Orders: How Does It Work?

Custom Orders and Commissions: How Does It Work?

Pauline H Art - big size original contemporary abstract artwork with juicy pinks, deep purples, light blues and tones of yellows that remind us sunset colours

So you might be willing to acquire a nice piece of art but you have very specific requirements.

Maybe you're in love with a specific style - yin versus yang or water versus air, for example - or maybe you need a specific set of colours to suit your furniture and home deco. Or maybe it's the size that is not standard - panoramic, big formats, etc.

And you might then be wondering how can we make this work?

When it comes to art, there is no one size fits all solution, which is why each piece is unique and will please different people or suit different home environments.

You might like one of the pieces I have displayed on my website but the dimensions don't work for your place. Or maybe you need a huge piece, which doesn't fit the traditional, standard formats. For some, it's the colours. They require a piece with a precise colour scheme to suit their existing home environment and design.

Or you just want something that has specifically been made for you, with a special energy and message behind it.

This is when I usually advise for a custom project.

Step 1

The first step is to have a proper chat over the phone. Usually, we will require some pictures of your interior and the room that would welcome the artwork.

We will then define the format and the style together in order to make sure every aspect is taken into consideration. These two elements (technique and dimensions) will define the budget of your custom order.

The budget is always defined by the size (bigger sizes = bigger prices).

While prices for existing pieces are currently ranging from 0.09€ and 0.12€ per square centimetre, commissions are at 0.15€ per cm2.

Step 2

Once we have agreed on the details, we will provide you with a file giving you an idea of what it will look like in your home. If you are around, you can also stop by the studio to take a closer look at the existing pieces we have in store, so you can see for yourself before starting a briefing for a new artwork.

Step 3

Once your chosen support has been received/created, you can count about 2 to 4 weeks to see the final results. We will then safely ship your artwork at your desired address with FedEx or similar courier depending on your location.

When possible, we can ship stretched artworks. But for large pieces with inter-continental shipping, the easiest is to ship the artwork un-stretched. In that case, you'll receive your piece rolled in a reinforced tube along with the wooden frame. You can then decide to stretch it by yourself with a stapler gun or we can organise the artwork to be delivered to one of your local art supply shops, that can take care of the stretching for you.

Each piece is obviously delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
